We welcome those from all over the North East. We have members from Northallerton, Richmond and County Durham
We are developing a small, non-invasive device — called a biosensor — that aims to help detect prostate cancer and monitor its return more easily and comfortably. Unlike traditional methods such as biopsies or digital rectal exams, this sensor uses a tiny drop of non-invasive liquid sample (blood or urine) to detect specific cancer-related markers, providing quicker results with less stress.
The goal of our project is to create a simple, low-cost tool that can one day be used in clinics — or even from home — to support regular monitoring and early detection of prostate cancer. But most importantly, we want this device to be designed with the real needs and experiences of individuals in mind. That’s why your feedback is so valuable to us. By sharing your experience and views you will be helping us design a biosensor that could make a real difference in the lives of current and future patients.
At last month's meeting we discussed the request from Teesside University for help with their project to manufacture a Biosensor to detect and monitor prostate cancer in a non invasive manner.
If successful this Biosensor could provide the accurate diagnostic tool to push for a national screening program and also greatly improve cancer surveillance for those having gone through PC.
